Department of Agriculture, Land Reform and Rural Development

 

1. The Executive Officer: Agricultural Product Standards considered comments received from all affected parties on the business plan and budget submitted by the assignee for Eggs, Processed Meat Products, Certain Raw Processed Meat Products and Poultry Meat, namely Food Safety Agency (Pty) Ltd, in terms of section 3(1B)(c) of the Agricultural Product Standards Act 119 of 1990 as amended.

 

2. Consequently, the Executive Officer of Agricultural Product Standards has approved the business plan and budget, determining that the following inspection fees will be effective for a period of 12 months.

Inspection, travelling and sampling fees for 2026

Inspection Fees:

Normal time (08:00 – 16:00)

R540.60 per hour

Normal overtime (Mon - Sat)

R601.02 per hour

Sundays and public holidays

R720.80 per hour

Kilometre rate

R6.50 per kilometre

Sampling fees:

 

Protein content (Meat content)

R533.18 per sample

Fat content

R875.56 per sample

Soya content

R1 764.90 per sample

Starch content

R1 560.32 per sample

Calcium determination (MRM only)

R401.74 per sample

Meat species identification (DNA)

3. The inspection fees shall come into operation on 01 April 2026.
